FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How do I register my child for school?

A. We hold a district-wide registration in the spring and information will be sent out when those dates are set each year. At other times of the year, gather your child's Birth Certificate, along with 3 types of proof of residency and your child's medical forms, and go to the school office that your child will be attending. Please note that all medical history needs to be written on Illinois forms. All the forms you need can be printed out from the important forms area of the website. There are some fees, so you will need to bring a check also.

Q. What time does school start? When does it end?

A. Willowbrook Middle School (grades 5-8) starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.

Prairie Hill (grades K-4) starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m.

Q.  How do I call my child in sick?

A.  For Willowbrook, call (815) 389-3957

For Prairie Hill, call (815) 389-3301

Q. Can I get my child's homework assignments?

A. We do not send homework assignments for a one day absence. If your child is absent a second day, please call their school first thing in the morning and request homework. Homework will not be issued prior to planned vacations.

Q. When will I find out my child's bus route and times?

A. First Student emails notifications to families approximately one week prior to the start of school. If you have not gotten a postcard from them by the Friday before school, you can reach them at 815-624-0294.

Q. How do I send in lunch money?

A. When sending lunch money to the office, please send it in an envelope with the student's full name and 'lunch' indicated. There is also an option to pay online. For more information regarding the online program, please go to the Lunch area of the website.

Q. What do I do if I want my child to ride the bus home with another student?

A. When your child is riding the bus with another student or getting off the bus at a different bus stop, please send a note to the office. Include the name of the child they will be riding with and the bus number if available. The office will then generate a bus pass for the student for that day and will give it to the bus driver. If the student is not routed with First Student, they may not ride the bus with another student. Please call the school office to make arrangements.

Q. What if I need to take my child to a doctor appointment in the middle of the day?

A. Whenever you are picking up a student up during school hours, please come early enough to allow time for the student to gather his or her belongings and come down to the office. A note handed in ahead of time is always appreciated. A phone call just prior to your arrival is helpful especially if your time is limited. All students must be signed in/out by the parent or guardian.
