Chaoscope
Manual
Using the Chaoscope program is tricky
unless you know the steps. You're actually stumped right when you
open it. It'll just be an open screen with nothing on it. But, we
have made a manual consisting the steps to use this amazing program!!
- Click File
- Go down to new and click it
- A dialog box should pop up.
- The column where it says chaotic
flow, click the down button and choose a kind of chaoscope.
- You can experiment with the
different kinds, it doesn't matter!!
- The size makes the attractor in
the bigger dialog box....well...bigger!

- Another big dialog box will pop up
along with two others.
- The smaller ones will affect your
attractor, which we will get into later.
- The big box will have nothing in
it, but that is where your attractor will pop up later.
- To get an attractor, click F3 and
a shape with dots all over it will appear in the bigger box
- If the shape doesn't seem to
interesting, click F3 again to cycle through the other attractors
- If you come along an attractor,
and you like what you see, press F4 to render it. Rendering it will
make it look more like a solid than a chunk of stars.
- To Play around with the attractor
you can use View or Attractor dialog boxes to change it.
- The view box should show your
render and then a bunch of other slider things
- Click on the first thing that can
go down and choose plasma. That is probably the coolest kind of
render
- You should see a rainbow thing at
the bottom of the view box.
- Double click it some colors should
pull up in a box.
- See which color You like the most
- You should click on the color you
want
- You will go into another file and
it will have the color you picked, a dash ( _ ) and a secondary
color
- Choose one of those and double
click it
- It will change the color of the
attractor in the big dialog box
- And when you render it....wow....
- The other smaller dialog box has a
bunch of slider things, right?
- If you move those sliders it will
affect the attractor
- Oh cool! Right when i was writing
this, Brandon found out that you can push F6 to make the attractor
darker or something. We'll get back to you on this...
- You can experiment with them
however much you want.
- Tight!! Brandon found out that
when you push the + or – button by the numbers you can zoom in.
- A mouse with the
scroller thing on your mouse, you can zoom with that, as long as you
have used the + or – at least once.
- Geez, another thing! We found that if you hold shift, and click and hold on the attractor, you can move it around.
- Our last rule, or step,
do your best, have fun, and make cool stuff!!
