Fractals: Fractals are a HUGE topic. They are based on mathematics, and deep explanations
* Fractals first were made/thought in the late 19th and 20th century! Way before Mandelbrot and Julia studied them.
1970's: A mathematician named Benoit Mandelbrot did some computer studies for the information of fractals. Mandelbrot Had been at the time, one of Julia's students in 1945 while in the study of these sets.
1979:
Mandelbrot produced a computer image of what later was
known as the Mandelbrot set.
1982: Mandelbrot published a book entitled 'The Fractal Geometry of Nature'. This was a amazing event in the history of Fractals, and for it's mathematical content this made it a considerable interest in the study of these objects.
The first actually Mandelbrot was drawn in 1978 by Robert Brooks and Peter Matelski.
Julia sets:
*
The set of a Julia set is a Mandelbrot set.
* Gaston Julia was born in the Algerian town of Sidi Bel Abbess, at the time under French rule.
1917: The first significant work on ' Julia sets ' was done by Gaston Julia. Gaston worked on these particular fantastic sets in the hospital recovering injuries from the first world war.
* The Julia set is a canter; in this case it sometimes referred to as Fatou Dust.
Chaos:
*
another form of fractals.
