4th Grade Introduction to "PrairieHill Publishing". Saving images in G.I.M.P. and PowerPoint. Network foldwers, open, save and save as.
| 6th Grade Search and Surf Teams of two students will select a subject of interest (subject to approval by the lab instructor) Using a search engine (Google, Yahoo, Dogpile etc.) they are to find and 'bookmark' ten sites that deal in-depth with their chosen subject. Students will then write a 'thumbnail' description of 40 - 50 words for each site following this format: 1) url (the full, formal web address) 2) Does the site have good and accurate information? 3) How can you tell that the information is accurate? 4) Is the site easy to use (navigate) with clear links and understandable structure? Is it atractive to look at? 5) Are there good and relevant graphics that not only illustrate the concept but are instructional as well? 6) Will you use the web site as a source for your report? Remember a web site for our purposes is defined as all pages under the same domain name. |

8th Grade.
Interent Purchasing Project Student will: 1. Determine an 'item ' to purchase. These items should be a 'major' purchase: auto, motorcycle, consumer electronics etc. (anything that would be available commercially ) 2) Visit manufacturer web sites to select the exact model and make of the item you wish to purchase. 3) Vists 3 consumer review sites. 4) Visit 2 proffessional review sites. 5) Shop for the best price!!! Students will turn in notes (in MSWord format) from their internet purchasing experience including URL's for all site visited. Brief synopsis all all reviews. And a description of their online shopping experience. |
| "The Meal" - 7th Using the internet and MSExcel students will plan and budget a full banquet for 25 people. No prepared food will be allowed. All entres are to be made from scratch with recipes found on the interent. An Excell spread sheet will be created to help document and price all meals etc. URL's for all sites used will be included in the Excel document as well as images of the various dishes. More will be discuseed on this project as it simmers!!!! |
