Welcome to Mrs. Reynolds First Grade

Welcome to room 107!  There are lots of fun and exciting projects that are going to be taking place over the next several weeks in our classroom.  Please continue to read and check the    homework page each week to see what's happening in our classroom.

Guided Reading- Each week the students receive a new book and we work on the particular book all week long. Each student gets a vocabulary sheet to work on throughout the week. The homework everyday is to read the guided reading book at night and practice the vocabulary.

Math- This week we are going to be starting Chapter 13: Sums and Differences to 18. Each Friday we do Friday Fun Math.  Friday Fun Math could be making a classroom graph, math centers, or educational games on the computer.

Spelling- At the beginning of each  week the students write their spelling words for the week into their Agendas.  The students are to practice their spelling words each night.  We have a practice test on Thursdays and the final spelling test on Friday.  On Tuesdays I will send home a handwriting paper for the students to write four sentences using different spelling words.  It is to be returned on Wednesdays. We are now going to have sentence dictation on our spelling tests.  If the student passes the practice test on Thursday then they will not have to take the test on Friday.

 The spelling words for this week are:  we are done with spelling for the year

Homework for the week of May 26 - May 30

Monday- No school

Tuesday- Practice telling time.

Wednesday- Read at least 2 books tonight and pizza party tomorrow for lunch.

Thursday- Read at least 3 books tonight.

Friday- Read each day, practice counting money, and telling time.
